#shoplocal Day 21, Spinunity

The new year is always the number one time of year for fitness regimes to take effect so why not give a gift of fitness this year?  Jeff and Jordan have put together Spinunity, a great spin place in Sherwood Park and they really know how to work you over.

If your idea of fitness is begrudgingly getting onto a treadmill for an hour every morning and eating salads twice a day then you need to rethink your idea of fitness because that sounds BOOOORING.  Being in shape and staying in shape are really fun, you just need to find what’s right for you.  There’s so many different hybrid classes and communities that mash up all kinds of fun activities together with sweating in general – cycling, surfing, ballet, swimming – you’re sure to find one that suits your personality and interest and won’t give you a panic attack when you think about doing it for an hour.

Today is all about spin.  When my girlfriend first asked me to go to a spin class with her, I had no idea what it would entail because I had never heard of it before.  Do we run around in circles?  Is it some kind of new age dancing?  Are there hula hoops?  None of the above.  It’s actually getting on a bike and pedalling your ass off for an hour while you sweat buckets.  spinteam

Just riding a stationary bike for an hour didn’t sound like much fun to me but when I heard the loud music, and saw the disco lights and the cool graffiti wall to focus on, it completely got me in the mood to get my endorphins pumping.

And who doesn’t like an offering of food?  Food is fuel so fittingly, Spinunity shares their space with Glow Juicery where you can get a nutrient dense blend of fresh pressed juices before or after your ride.  They also have an on-site nutritionist for those that would like to incorporate a healthy meal plan into their fitness schedule and all nutrition customers receive 15% off studio memberships.

Don’t have anyone to watch your kids so you can take a class?  No problem, they also have a child minding service, just be sure to call ahead and book a space!  Spin

It’s a great place to host corporate events for team building too, packages are available and can be customized with catering and bevys afterwards as well.  Corporate Wellness packages can also be put together for companies that would like to offer their employees a different option for investing in their health.

Their entire spin team is ready to show you a good time so check them all out to see whose classes you’d like to try first and who plays the tunes you want to hear.  They’re open every day of the week, Monday to Friday 8:30am to 9:00pm, Saturdays 8:30am to 12pm and Sundays 8:30am to 8pm.  You can book your classes online or call the studio to save your spot.

A NOTE TO MY READERS: I want to reiterate that every one of these shops and artists have been selected by me to participate in my #shoplocal campaign.  I am receiving NO GRATUITIES OR FREEBIES for these shout outs and want to keep it that way!  I love all these places and what they offer and am sharing them to make my readers lives easier and promote local shopping in my area.
